Investing in Your Health

Heath Goals

With the end of the year fast approaching, this is your friendly reminder to reflect on your health journey thus far and re-focus your goals for the upcoming new year. What things benefitted your health this past year? What things do you want to keep and what things do you want to discontinue? What new things do you want to introduce next year to experience further benefit? What are your health goals and what new things are you willing to try to reach them?

If you have personal insurance coverage, I encourage you to utilize your benefits with the health services offered. Most benefit plans that you pay into do not carry over into the new year, so use them now or lose them forever! Also, many people have a health spending account that is more flexible and can be used towards more services outside of the standard list. If you do not have benefits yet, maybe decide if it is time to spend a little bit on yourself to get the treatment that you need (or you can ask for a special treatment as your Christmas gift). Either way, there is many types of health professionals that are eager to support you and ready to aid in your health care journey to help you reach your goals.

Why Invest in Your Health?

Investing in your health is not just your routine check-up at your family doctor. It can be seeing a chiropractor for physical adjustments and help with mobilization. It can be scheduling a routine visit with a massage therapist to promote relaxation and decrease stress. It can be finding a personal trainer or nutrition coach to reach your exercise and diet goals. It can be matching with a therapist to discuss challenges from a non-biased perspective. It can be seeing a Naturopathic Doctor for natural approaches to treatment that work alongside conventional medicine. Simply, it can be finding a new member to add to your health team that can fill in the missing gaps you're experiencing.

Our health is the single most important thing affecting our quality of life. If we are not in a healthy physical or mental state, then we cannot live our lives to the upmost we can. Our bodies and minds are our vessels that we live within. In order to stay healthy, we need to make the effort to seek necessary treatment to keep us in a balanced form. We all work very hard on a daily basis attending to our responsibilities and the needs of others. Why not work hard on benefitting ourselves once in a while?

Investing in your health is self-care. Now is the time to put yourself first.
